Macquarie Is Said to Leave Group Bidding for Petrobras Pipeline

  • Macquarie Group Ltd. left a group expected to bid for Petrobras’s TAG natural gas pipeline network as the Brazilian oil giant is giving interested parties until April 2 to present their price proposal.
  • On the first round, French utility Engie SA placed the highest bid with Canadian pension fund Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec, of about $ 8 billion.
  • The offer price is expected to range between $8 billion and $9 billion.

U.S. suspends review on Trafigura oil -port project: official

  • U.S. maritime officials have suspended their review of Swiss trader Trafigura AG’s application for a Gulf Coast deepwater terminal while they await additional information, a U.S. Coast Guard official said on Friday.
  • The projects are designed to load oil flowing from U.S. shale fields onto tankers that will carry it to Asia, Latin America and Europe.
  • The Maritime Administration and U.S. Coast Guard called on Trafigura to provide data on pipeline construction through waterways and on its consultations with groups like the Texas Historical Commission.

Keystone XL Owner Loses Bid to Stay Ruling That Delayed Project

  • TransCanada Corp., the developer of the controversial Keystone XL oil pipeline, lost a bid to circumvent a federal judge’s ruling that has further delayed the project.
  • The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit denied TransCanada’s request for a stay on a Montana federal judge’s ruling that halted work on Keystone XL while it appeals that decision.
  • The 1,179-mile (1,897-kilometer) Keystone XL pipeline would help move 830,000 barrels of crude a day from Alberta’s oil sands to U.S. Gulf Coast refiners, providing relief to a Canadian energy industry that has suffered from a lack of pipeline space.

Number of U.S. active drilling rigs decreases slightly this week
