  • Benoist’s painting, which was originally titled “Portrait of a negress”, before being recently renamed “Portrait of a black woman” by the Louvre museum, is called “Portrait of Madeleine”.

  • Oil prices fell on Monday as investors weighed mixed signals on global supply and signs that Russia may exit coordinated production cuts by nearly two dozen nations.
  • Brent crude oil futures were down 61 cents, or nearly 1%, at $70.94 a barrel around 8:35 a.m.
  • U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures fell 61 cents, or 1%, $63.28 per barrel.

  • South Korea’s imports of Iranian crude last month reached 1.2 million tons, or 8.8 million barrels which was a 23-percent increase on February and a fivefold increase in January, when Korean refiners resumed their purchases of Iranian crude.
  • Now, however, South Korea and Japan are being extra careful: both countries suspended their purchases of Iranian crude ahead of the return of sanctions last November and then waited for two months before they resumed their buying of Iranian oil even though they were granted a sanction waiver.
  • South Korea was allowed under the sanction waiver to continue importing 200,000 bpd until May.

Energean soars as Israeli energy minister hails major gas discovery

  • With estimates running from 1 Tcf to 1.5 Tcf, production could outstrip previous forecasts of around 1.3 Tfc.
  • Energean’s shares were trading up at 861p at around midday.

  • Then, in what Mr Daccord called “a breakthrough”, several people who had escaped to detention camps in Iraq in late 2017 told Red Cross workers they had been treated by Ms Akavi in Syria.
