Moths on night shift are working harder than other insects

  • When you settle down for bed, after the birds and bees have hushed, moths are just starting their work.
  • We observed and recorded key daytime pollinators, including bees, hoverflies, and butterflies, as they visited flowers.
  • Moths tended to visit the same range of plant species that daytime pollinators visit, but far more species of moth were involved in the effort compared to bees and butterflies.
