Environmental Damage Caused by Russian Invasion Estimated at $10 Billion

  • Over 2,000 environmental damage incidents have been recorded over the six months of the Russian Federation’s full-scale war on Ukraine.
  • It is noted that over the six months of Russia’s continued crimes against the Ukrainian environment, the amount of damages stands at about UAH 395 billion, including UAH 106.3 billion in damage to water resources, UAH 176.5 billion – in damage from air pollution, and UAH 8.8 billion – in damage to soil.
  • As reported earlier, the Ministry of Environment and UNDP’s Office in Ukraine agreed to continue cooperation in the field of environmental protection.
