6 killed, 13 injured as school wall collapses in E. Pakistan

  • At least six people were killed and 13 others injured when a wall of a private school collapsed in Pakistan’s east Gujranwala district on Saturday.
  • The injured included teachers and students.
  • Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar expressed sorrow over the incident and ordered an inquiry into it, besides directing hospital authorities to provide the best possible medical treatment to the injured students and teachers.

China provides $2b loan to Pakistan’s ailing economy: report

  • To help Pakistan weather its current fiscal woes, China has decided to provide a loan of approximately $2.1 billion.
  • Pakistan’s Finance Ministry announced on Friday that all procedural requirements for transfer of the loan by China to Pakistan have been completed.
  • The Dawn reported that the loan amount would be deposited with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) by 25 March.
