MOSCOW, August 23. /TASS/. Syrian President Bashar Assad has conveyed a message wishing his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin success in the special military operation in Ukraine, Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad told his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.
"First of all, let me convey through you the greetings of His Excellency Bashar al-Assad, President of the Syrian Arab Republic, to His Excellency Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, with wishes of health and also that victory may accompany the military operation that is being conducted in Ukraine for the good of all humanity," Mekdad said on Tuesday during talks with his Russian counterpart in Moscow.
The Syrian minister expressed gratitude to Lavrov over the decades-long steadily evolving relations between the two countries. "If we follow this new stage in the development of relations between Syria and Russia today with the fulfillment of our leaders' instructions, we notice that this is happening within the part of the interest in maintaining peace and security throughout the world, within the framework of Russia's support for the Syrian people in all fields," he said.
