Turkey launches mobile app to track COVID-19 patients

ANKARA, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Turkey's Health Minister Fahrettin Koca on Wednesday announced that a new mobile app will be launched to track novel coronavirus patients.

"Work has been done to track the cases and to see whether they are isolated or leaving home, with the contribution of three operators of the BTK (the Information and Communication Technologies Authority)," the minister tweeted on Wednesday.

"A mobile app has been developed and all our patients have to download this app. It will be activated in one or two days," said the tweet.

The Turkish government also set up a social science board to assess and tackle the social impacts of COVID-19.

This will be the second science board after an initial one which is composed of medical doctors.

The social science board will make its first meeting soon among experts on psychology of religion, sociology of religion, as well as statisticians, sociologists and psychologists, the minister said at a press conference on Tuesday.
