Number of company profit warnings in the UK ‘at a level last seen during the financial crisis’

  • Britain’s biggest companies have issued profit warnings at a level not seen since the depths of the financial crisis in 2008.
  • Some 69 companies alerted investors between April and June, sending share prices falling by just over a fifth on average.
  • This was slightly higher than the 20.7pc fall at the peak of the financial crisis at the end of 2008.
