Macquarie Group secure key Irish banking licence

  • Macquarie Group, an Australian multinational investment bank and financial services company, has obtained an Irish banking licence as part of its Brexit strategy.
  • The bank announced it had been awarded the banking licence from the European Central Bank and Central Bank of Ireland during its 2020 half-year results earnings call.
  • Macquarie, which has $A562bn (€349.53bn) of assets under management, confirmed it had been awarded both an investment firm licence and a bank licence in Ireland.
