IMF lauds ‘considerable progress’, but talks remain inconclusive

  • The Interna­tional Monetary Fund said Pakistan has made “considerable progress” on its programme, but a staff-level agreement could not be reached as talks on the second review of the ongoing facility ended on Friday and the IMF team departed the country.
  • In the statement, the Fund gave an endorsement to the government’s implementation of the programme till December 2019.
  • On the fiscal side too, the Fund gave strong endorsement.
