  • Luxembourg recorded more than 500 new cases of the coronavirus on Saturday, still well above the target Prime Minister Xavier Bettel has set for the country to avoid going into a second lockdown.
  • Restaurants, bars, fitness centres and cinemas face closure once again if the current measures – such as a curfew and limits on the number of people that can get together in groups – fail to push the number lower.
  • Since the start of the crisis in March, police have carried out around 17,000 checks to ensure residents are complying with the pandemic rules such as wearing masks and not gathering in large groups, handing out fines to 2,000 people for not wearing a mask.
