Bank of Russia unveils decline in damage by cyber fraudsters in Q2

MOSCOW, August 25. /TASS/. The total damage inflicted by cyber fraudsters declined in the Q2 by 5.5% to 2.8 bln rubles ($46.96 mln) and the number of cases of stolen funds fell 10.8% to 211,200, the Bank of Russia reported on Thursday.

"The number of cases of stolen funds in the Q2 2022 dropped 10.8% lower than the same period last year to 211,200. The total amount of damage caused by scammers sank 5.5% to 2.8 bln rubles," the regulator said.

In April-June of 2022, the Bank of Russia blocked 117,600 telephone numbers, which surpasses the figure for 2021 almost 10-fold. "The number of fraudulent Internet resources blocked by the regulator increased by more than a third," the Bank of Russia said.
