  • Truss announced a cap on consumer energy bills for two years in a package that could cost around 150 billion pounds ($173 billion, €173 billion).
  • Britain was a net exporter of energy from the late 1980s to 2004 following the development of North Sea oil and gas fields, but production declined after peaking in 1999.
