Ukraine’s GDP falls by over 19% in Q2 – statistics

KIEV, September 8. /TASS/. Ukraine's GDP in the Q2 2022 decreased by more than 19% compared to the Q1 of 2022, according to preliminary estimates published on Thursday by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

"In the Q2 of 2022, real GDP decreased by 19.1% compared to the previous quarter (seasonally adjusted), and by 37.2% compared to the Q2 of 2021," the service wrote on Twitter.

At the same time, according to the statement, in the Q1 of 2022, the country's GDP fell by 15.1% compared to the same period last year.

Earlier, First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko said that the ministry predicted a decline in Ukraine's GDP by 35-40% in 2022. In July, the National Bank of Ukraine published a forecast that the country's economy will shrink by a third this year. The World Bank analysts believe that Ukraine's GDP in 2022 will decrease by 45.1%.
