  • Recordings of Polish politicians recorded at a popular Warsaw restaurant that reportedly contributed to bringing down the government in 2015 may have been sold to Russia before they were published in Poland.
  • Among those recorded were incumbent Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, who, before joining the Law and Justice (PiS) party, owned BZ WBK bank, then the Polish branch of Santander Consumer Bank, and was one of the advisors to Tusk on economic issues.
  • The publication of the tapes’ content in Wprost weekly gave birth to a wiretapping scandal that influenced a drop in support for the PO while simultaneously strengthening its rival PiS.
