MOSCOW, January 13. /TASS/. The number of individuals with brokerage accounts on the Moscow Exchange in 2020 increased by almost 5 mln and reached record-breaking 8.8 mln. Thus, in 2020, more private investors came to the Moscow Exchange than in all previous years, the exchange said on Wednesday.
The share of private investors in the volume of trading in shares on the Moscow Exchange in 2020 was 40.6%, trading in bonds - 13%, in the spot currency market - 12.3%, derivatives market - 42%. Also, over the past year, private investors have invested 301 bln rubles ($4.08 bln) in shares on the Moscow Exchange, investments in bonds amounted to 617 bln rubles ($8.37 bln).
According to the Moscow Exchange, private investors in 2020 were most interested in the shares of Gazprom (23.1%), Lukoil (11.8%), Norilsk Nickel (11.3%), ordinary and preferred shares of Sberbank (10.5% and 8%, respectively), shares of Aeroflot (8.2%), securities of Mail.ru Group (7.4%), preferred shares of Surgutneftegas (6.8%), as well as shares of MTS (6.5%), and VTB Bank (6.3%).
Among foreign securities, the portfolios included shares of Alibaba Group Holding LTD (29.5%), Pfizer Inc. (11.6%), Apple (11.1%), Tesla Inc. (9.9%), Intel (8%), Boeing (7.7%), Amazon (7%), NVIDIA (5.1%), AT&T Inc. (5.1%), and American Airlines Group Inc. (4.9%).
