Number of private investors in Russian stock market in Q2 up to 14.8 mln – Central Bank

MOSCOW, September 13. / TASS /. The number of investors represented by brokers in Q2 2021 rose by 17% to 14.8 mln people, according to the information released by the Central Bank of Russia web site on Monday.

"In Q2 2021, private investors maintained their interest in the stock market and the number of brokers' clients increased by 17% and amounted to 14.8 mln persons," the regulator said. The individual asset value equals to 7.2 trillion rubles with additional 1.2 trillion rubles in trusts.

According to the Central Bank, the appraised value of securities in the accounts Russian depositories went up to 6.6 trillion rubles (+ 10% qoq), mainly due to the inflow of new funds. The increase in investments, net of currency and exchange rate revaluation, amounted to 439 bln rubles per quarter (quarter earlier - 464 bln rubles). "In the coming quarters, growth may slow down even more because of a gradual increase in rates on bank deposits following the increase in the key rate by the Central Bank. Investors' interest has shifted due to the stabilization of the ruble, from foreign shares and bonds towards Russian instruments, first of all, shares," the regulator said.
