MOSCOW, August 17. /TASS/. The Russian stock market went up at the beginning of the main session on Wednesday.

The MOEX Index was up by 0.53% at 2,220 points, while the RTS extended gains to 0.75% trading at 1,150.66 points, according to trading data as of 10:15 am Moscow time.

As trading opened the MOEX Index rose by 0.23% to 2,213.43 points, while the dollar-denominated RTS Index added 0.25% to 1,144.94 points.

Meanwhile the dollar exchange rate was down by 0.51% compared with the previous closing at 60.58 rubles, while the euro exchange rate was down by 0.82% at 61.6 rubles as of 10:15 am. As trading opened on Moscow Exchange the dollar exchange rate rose by 0.05% to 60.93 rubles, while the euro exchange rate edged down by 0.01% to 62.11 rubles.
