MOSCOW, October 4. /TASS-DEFENSE/. Internet of Things satellites Marathon-IoT will be renewed once in five years, CEO of the Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems Company (ISS) Yevgeny Nesterov said.

"The spacecraft operates five years and we replace it in orbit, in which it becomes inoperative. It means the grouping will be renewed every five years," he said adding it is necessary to keep the coverage zone.

Skif spacecraft lives longer and will be replaced every 12 years, he added.

Marathon-IoT and Skif will join the Sphera program. It has to launch communication and remote Earth sensing satellites. The project will include five telecom satellites and another five sensing satellites.
