NUR-SULTAN, June 9. /TASS/. Kazakhstan has documented 215 cases of COVID-19, a disease caused by the novel coronavirus, in the past 24 hours, which is 50 more than yesterday. The total number of infections in the country has reached 13,074, the press service of the Kazakh health ministry informed on Tuesday.
"We have documented 215 new cases of infection among those with symptoms, the growth rate has reached 1.7%. In total, 13,074 cases are confirmed in the country," the message informs. The share of infected persons against the Kazakh population is 0.07%.
According to the ministry, 361 people have been discharged from hospital, with 7,737 people recovered in total so far.
On June 6, the ministry announced that it would make a separate statistic for asymptomatic cases. In the past 24 hours, 339 asymptomatic cases of COVID-19 have been detected, with the total number of cases not forming part of the general statistic reaching 1,696.
Kazakhstan has introduced a national emergency over the coronavirus pandemic from March 16 to April 11, however, quarantine measures in certain regions of the republic remain in place.
In late December 2019, Chinese officials notified the World Health Organization (WHO) about the outbreak of a previously unknown pneumonia in the city of Wuhan, in central China. Since then, cases of the novel coronavirus - named COVID-19 by the WHO - have been reported in every corner of the globe.
On March 11, 2020, the WHO declared the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic. According to the latest statistics, over 7,100,000 people have been infected worldwide and more than 406,300 deaths have been reported. In addition, so far, over 3,466,500 individuals have recovered from the illness across the globe.
